Winning the Lottery
If you won the lottery today, would you go to work tomorrow? In a national survey conducted by Harris Poll and CareerBuilder more than half of the respondents (51%) who were asked that question reported that they would continue working even after receiving the windfall (with 30% saying they would stay in their current position). The study suggests that for most workers, there is more to work than simply collecting a paycheck. A large portion of respondents said they would be bored without work (77%) and that their work gave them purpose and feelings of accomplishment (76%). What’s most surprising isn’t that people want to work; it’s that only 15% of the respondents said they were working in what they considered to be their dream job.
