Work Schedule: Onsite, Monday–Friday

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Staff Facilities Engineer to join a leading midstream operator with significant natural gas infrastructure across Appalachia. This individual will serve as a technical expert on reciprocating compressor engines, vibration, and pulsation analysis, while also contributing to project economics, contract management, and budget planning. The role requires a hands-on engineer capable of diagnosing and optimizing engine and compressor performance, supporting operations, and driving efficiency across a large fleet of midstream assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise for compressor engines (Caterpillar 3608, Waukesha 7044, and similar units), including diagnostics, optimization, and performance runs.
  • Evaluate and interpret vibration data (from velocity, inches/second, etc.), determining when equipment is out of tolerance and developing solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of pulsation forces on reciprocating compressors using tools such as Windrock analyzers; identify balance issues and design corrective actions.
  • Utilize ProMax and other modeling software to analyze compressor station and midstream facility performance, simulating operational scenarios.
  • Support project economics, including capital/operational cost evaluations, budget development, and contractor management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and air quality standards while supporting ESG initiatives.
  • Serve as a mentor and technical resource for engineers and operations staff.
  • Partner with Operations, Reservoir, Completions, and Environmental teams to deliver safe, efficient solutions across facilities projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, or related Engineering field (ABET accredited).
  • 12+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 3 years in midstream operations.
  • Direct experience with reciprocating compressor engines (Caterpillar 3608, Waukesha 7044 required).
  • Demonstrated expertise in vibration analysis and pulsation forces for compressors.
  • Proficiency with process modeling and station analysis tools (e.g., ProMax).
  • Strong background in project economics (capex/opex evaluation, contract management, budget support).
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to adapt across field-level operations and executive-level presentations.
