Senior Project Director – Pipelines & Facilities
Role Overview: The Senior Project Director, Pipelines & Facilities will lead large-scale natural gas pipeline and facility development and execution. This leader will oversee planning, engineering, permitting, budget/schedule control, risk management, and field execution from FEED through commissioning.
Ideal for someone who has led hundreds of miles of 30–42” gas pipeline builds for top-tier operators and can thrive in a lean, entrepreneurial environment where processes are being built. This is a critical leadership role overseeing a major long-haul NG pipeline project and future build-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Full lifecycle oversight of natural gas pipeline & facilities projects, FEED through commissioning
- Develop scopes, AFE packages, contracts, budgets, schedules, execution plans
- Lead and mentor multidisciplinary internal/external project teams
- Manage EPC firms; ensure disciplined execution and change control
- Navigate regulatory, DOT/PHMSA, environmental & permitting requirements
- Coordinate with commercial, land, ROW, engineering, and field teams
- Interface with executive leadership, external stakeholders, and partners
- Maintain project delivery aligned to scope, cost, and schedule
- Actively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Contribute to building project processes and infrastructure as the team scales
Required Qualifications
- BS in Engineering
- 15–25+ years progressive pipeline project experience with 10+ years as a PM / project leader for natural gas transmission pipelines
- Experience delivering both small < $10MM and major $10MM–$2B pipeline projects
- Midstream operator-side career background required (EPC exposure a plus)
- Led large-diameter long-haul gas pipeline projects (30–42”+) and associated facilities
- Comfortable in environments without rigid playbooks — able to create process
- Has executed projects where scope is defined and fixed, but can also navigate ambiguity in early-stage development
- Deep knowledge of DOT Part 192, PHMSA, and federal/state permitting
- Fluent in project controls, cost, schedule, change management
- Strong stakeholder & contractor management experience
- Demonstrated ability to operate in lean / flat orgs and build structure where needed
