Senior Development Manager – C&I DG

Location: Northeast corridor

A renewable infrastructure fund is seeking a Senior Development Manager to advance corporate distributed generation (DG) projects from signed customer agreements to construction-ready status.

This is a pure development execution role, not origination, not investment underwriting, and not construction management.

The position sits between:

  • Origination Team (customer agreements / term sheets)
  • Execution & Investment Team (capital structuring / underwriting)

The goal: ensure projects are fully permitted, de-risked, interconnected, compliant, and ready for seamless handoff to Construction.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Development & Planning

  • Advance corporate DG projects from signed customer agreements to construction readiness.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and milestones.
  • Identify development risks and coordinate mitigation strategies.

Permitting & Regulatory Compliance

  • Manage all local, state, and federal permitting processes.
  • Oversee environmental, zoning, and building approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with incentive programs and regulatory requirements.

Interconnection & Utility Coordination

  • Manage utility interconnection applications, studies, and agreements.
  • Coordinate technical inputs with engineering teams and external consultants.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as primary development contact for corporate customers.
  • Coordinate with utilities, municipalities, and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure internal teams are aligned on project progress, milestones, and requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Origination, Execution/Investment, Engineering, Legal, and Finance
  • Provide development inputs to financial models and investment committee materials.
  • Ensure smooth handoff to the Construction team once projects are construction-ready

Qualifications:
Required

  • 5–10+ years of renewable energy development experience, ideally C&I distributed generation.
  • Proven experience advancing projects from signed agreements to construction-ready status.
  • Strong knowledge of utility interconnection processes and permitting requirements.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Preferred

  • Experience with corporate procurement teams and C&I customers.
  • Familiarity with battery storage integration, tariff analysis, or demand charge management.
  • Knowledge of federal and state incentives for distributed generation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or environmental science (advanced degree a plus).
