Senior Development Manager – C&I DG
Location: Northeast corridor
A renewable infrastructure fund is seeking a Senior Development Manager to advance corporate distributed generation (DG) projects from signed customer agreements to construction-ready status.
This is a pure development execution role, not origination, not investment underwriting, and not construction management.
The position sits between:
- Origination Team (customer agreements / term sheets)
- Execution & Investment Team (capital structuring / underwriting)
The goal: ensure projects are fully permitted, de-risked, interconnected, compliant, and ready for seamless handoff to Construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Development & Planning
- Advance corporate DG projects from signed customer agreements to construction readiness.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and milestones.
- Identify development risks and coordinate mitigation strategies.
Permitting & Regulatory Compliance
- Manage all local, state, and federal permitting processes.
- Oversee environmental, zoning, and building approvals.
- Ensure compliance with incentive programs and regulatory requirements.
Interconnection & Utility Coordination
- Manage utility interconnection applications, studies, and agreements.
- Coordinate technical inputs with engineering teams and external consultants.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as primary development contact for corporate customers.
- Coordinate with utilities, municipalities, and other external stakeholders.
- Ensure internal teams are aligned on project progress, milestones, and requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Origination, Execution/Investment, Engineering, Legal, and Finance
- Provide development inputs to financial models and investment committee materials.
- Ensure smooth handoff to the Construction team once projects are construction-ready
Qualifications:
Required
- 5–10+ years of renewable energy development experience, ideally C&I distributed generation.
- Proven experience advancing projects from signed agreements to construction-ready status.
- Strong knowledge of utility interconnection processes and permitting requirements.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Preferred
- Experience with corporate procurement teams and C&I customers.
- Familiarity with battery storage integration, tariff analysis, or demand charge management.
- Knowledge of federal and state incentives for distributed generation.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or environmental science (advanced degree a plus).
