Senior Project Controls Specialist
Location: Houston, TX (Energy Corridor)
Work Model: Hybrid / Flexible
About the Opportunity
We are representing a high-growth, privately held infrastructure and power development platform focused on delivering behind-the-meter energy solutions for large-scale data center deployments.
This organization is rapidly scaling a multi-gigawatt development pipeline across key U.S. power markets. Backed by strong capital and deep industry relationships, the company partners with leading data center operators to deliver reliable, scalable power infrastructure.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to join a well-capitalized platform where you will have direct visibility and impact on major capital projects.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Project Controls Specialist to serve as a foundational member of the project execution team. Reporting initially to executive leadership, this individual will play a critical role across the full project lifecycle—establishing controls frameworks, driving cost and schedule discipline, and helping build scalable processes as the organization grows.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has built project controls systems before and wants to do it again in a high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation and ongoing administration of Procore as the primary project controls platform
- Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, earned value (EVM), and variance reporting across $40M–$120M+ projects
- Build and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project, including critical path analysis
- Establish project controls standards, templates, and reporting frameworks from the ground up
- Deliver executive-level reporting and insights to senior leadership
- Interface with EPC teams to ensure accurate, real-time cost and schedule tracking
- Manage change orders, RFIs, and contract modifications with rigor and consistency
- Monitor vendor and subcontractor performance against contractual milestones
- Support risk identification and mitigation through quantitative analysis
Required Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of project controls experience on industrial capital projects
- Proven experience implementing Procore within an organization (must-have)
- Experience supporting projects valued at $40M+
- Background in power generation, oil & gas, midstream, chemical, refining, or similar industrial sectors
- Strong expertise in cost control, EVM, scheduling, and change management
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or MS Project
- Demonstrated ability to build processes and systems from scratch
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present to executive stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting power generation or energy infrastructure projects
- Background in a private equity-backed, startup, or high-growth environment
- Experience building or scaling a project controls function
- Familiarity with EPC contracting structures and owner’s representative models
- Professional certifications such as PMI-SP, AACE CCP/CCE, or similar
Why This Role
- High-impact, build-from-scratch opportunity
- Exposure to large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure projects
- Direct visibility to executive leadership
- Participation in long-term equity value creation
- Strong runway for career growth as the platform scales
