Operations Engineer

Location: Houston, TX
Scheduling: hybrid in-office and work from home
Travel: up to 25% travel 

The Operations Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for Gas, Crude and Water Operations for assets which include processing plants, compressor stations, pump stations, crude terminals, treating facilities, measurement facilities, SWD’s and gathering systems.  Key areas of support include, but are not limited to, design & throughput optimization, performance monitoring, regulatory compliance, operational procedures, equipment failure & incident evaluations, commissioning support, and MOC facilitation. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Routine field visits to assets to assist field operations in identifying, evaluating, and troubleshooting operational issues as required.
•    Collaborate with field operations to identify and implement process and procedural improvement opportunities, as well as preventative maintenance plans.
•    Evaluate and mitigate equipment and control system failures.
•    Evaluate key gas processing systems (e.g. TEG, Amine, stabilization, compression) and crude assets (LACTs) to troubleshoot reliability and runtime issues or implement performance improvement initiatives.
•    Review and evaluate control system and gas/crude quality measurement device suitability and performance.
•    Facilitate MOCs, risk assessments, HAZOPs/HAZIDs, and PHAs for modifications to existing assets
•    Assist with PHMSA and PSM audits as required.
•    Participate in Capital Project model reviews, constructability reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs/HAZIDs, PHA’s, and development plan reviews as required
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering 

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the oil & gas industry with specific experience in Midstream gas gathering and processing

  • Must have experience with natural gas compression and cryogenic assets. Crude oil asset experience may be considered, but gas experience preferred

  • Previous direct employment with E&P or Midstream companies

  • Proficient in working with P&IDs, PFDs, alignment sheets, equipment specification sheets, and other documents pertinent to operations of midstream systems. 

  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards related to Midstream asset design
