Seeking a skilled and experienced NETA Field Technician. This role involves performing testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage substation equipment to ensure the safety and reliability of electrical power systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical testing and maintenance, as well as extensive knowledge of industry standards, including NETA, IEEE, and NFPA. Successful candidates will be place in Technician I – Senior Technician titles commiserate with their certification and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switchgear included (but not limited to) the following:
- Protective relaying and relaying systems
- Circuit Breakers
- Power Transformers
- Current and Potential Transformers
- Meters, Transducers, and Power system metering
- Power Cables
- Grounding Systems
- Motors and Motor Starters
- Station Batteries and Chargers
- Alarm systems and Annunciators
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Perform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs
- Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended
- Represent the company in a professional manner regarding communicating and interfacing with clients
- Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and the scheduling of manpower and equipment
Qualifications:
- Power DB knowledge a plus
- Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals (Electrical)
- Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
- Broad knowledge of control and protection systems (Electrical)
- Knowledge of high-voltage electric field theory (Electrical)
- Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE and ANSI) (Electrical)
- Broad knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI) (Civil / Structural)
- Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment
- Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design (Electrical)
- Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
- Knowledge of drafting standards
