Manager, Data Center Project Engineer
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Schedule: Hybrid
Travel: up to 30%
The Manager, Data Center Project Engineer will have a strong background in project management and engineering with specific experience in data center, design/engineering, construction, and operations, along with preferred gas generation experience. This role requires a versatile individual who can effectively manage large-scale infrastructure projects, coordinate teams, and ensure that all projects meet deadlines and strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
• Support project development and lead project level engineering to include site selection, utility coordination, site test fits and preliminary layouts, etc.
• Own and lead multiple project workstreams, understanding scope, cost, and schedule implications.
• Develop detailed project plans, outlining milestones, timelines, resources, and budget requirements for data center digital initiatives.
• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders (e.g., design, operations, and engineering teams).
• Identify and mitigate project risks early by developing risk management strategies and maintaining effective contingency plans.
• Lead cross-functional project teams, including engineers, architects, and IT specialists, ensuring clear communication and alignment with project goals.
• Manage the collaboration between internal teams and external vendors, ensuring that digital infrastructure and technology components align with overall data center goals.
• Serve as support on all client engagements, organizing customer meetings/logistics, presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency.
• Implement best practices in energy optimization to reduce operating costs, minimize emissions, and improve the overall efficiency of the data center.
• Integrate gas generation systems with renewable energy sources (solar, storage) to create hybrid power solutions for data center operations.
• Collaborate with design teams to ensure gas generation systems align with data center layouts and infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 4+ years of experience in engineering, project management, infrastructure development, and/or utilities.
• Experience in data center, design/engineering, construction, and operations, along with preferred gas generation experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or related field.
• Construction industry experience, preferred
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced proficiency in PowerPoint & Excel
• Knowledge of data center market, including client needs, industry trends, and the competitive landscape.
