About the Opportunity

A publicly traded natural gas midstream company is seeking a Director of Interstate Commercial to lead commercial strategy, capacity sales, and revenue optimization across a portfolio of interstate natural gas pipeline and storage assets.

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for structuring and negotiating complex commercial transactions, identifying value-creation opportunities, and maximizing asset portfolio performance in dynamic natural gas markets.

The ideal candidate brings strong financial and commercial acumen, deep understanding of natural gas market fundamentals, and experience closing multi-million-dollar energy transactions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of commercial strategy for interstate pipeline and storage assets

  • Drive firm and interruptible capacity sales

  • Structure and negotiate complex commercial and financial agreements

  • Identify and integrate new business opportunities across the asset portfolio

  • Perform market analysis and develop strategic initiatives

  • Optimize revenue through contract structuring and portfolio positioning

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, regulatory, operations, and finance teams

  • Present commercial strategy and portfolio performance to senior leadership

  • Develop and mentor commercial team members


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or related discipline

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the natural gas sector

  • Demonstrated success closing complex, multi-million-dollar energy transactions

  • Strong financial modeling and commercial structuring capabilities

  • Expertise in natural gas market fundamentals and transportation path values

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple transactions in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to travel as required


Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with FERC-regulated interstate natural gas pipelines and tariffs

  • Background in natural gas marketing, trading, or asset optimization

  • Experience in Upper Midwest natural gas transmission markets

  • Experience within energy companies, consulting firms, trading organizations, or investment banks focused on the natural gas sector
