Business Development Manager – Oil & Gas (Permian Basin)

Location: Midland, TX (local, Permian-based required)
Reports To: Head of Sales
Travel: ~40%
Level: Individual Contributor | Field-Based, Hunter Sales Role

Role Overview

We are seeking a field-oriented Business Development Manager to drive new revenue growth across the Permian Basin. This role is designed for a relationship-driven sales professional with established credibility among E&P operators and the ability to engage customers directly in the field.

This is not an inside sales or transactional role. Success is built on trust, visibility, and long-term relationships at both the corporate and field levels. Prior power generation sales experience is not required. The most critical factors are local market knowledge, operator relationships, and a strong presence within the Permian Basin.


What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is deeply embedded in the Permian Basin and brings existing relationships with E&P operators and key independents.

This individual is highly effective in face-to-face environments—comfortable engaging with production teams, field engineers, foremen, and operations leadership. They understand how commercial decisions are made in oil & gas organizations and are respected for their professionalism, responsiveness, and integrity.

They are energized by being in the field, value long-term relationship building, and possess the judgment to navigate both corporate offices and active job sites with credibility and confidence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new business with E&P operators and key independents

  • Grow existing accounts through organic expansion and competitive displacement

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships across both corporate and field organizations

  • Acquire and manage Master Service Agreements (MSAs) with new customers

  • Identify and respond to RFQs; support bid strategy and pricing discussions

  • Maintain a consistent field presence across job sites, yards, and offices

  • Educate customers on power solutions, including generator sizing, fuel options, and deployment strategies

  • Partner closely with internal sales and account management teams to ensure seamless post-close handoffs

  • Track pipeline activity, performance metrics, and customer engagement in CRM and internal scorecards

  • Support invoicing responsibilities until accounts fully transition to account management


Qualifications

  • Local to Midland / Permian Basin; actively embedded in the market

  • 5+ years of experience in oilfield services, oil & gas, or energy-related sales

  • Established relationships with Permian Basin E&P operators

  • Demonstrated hunter mentality with experience opening new accounts and developing territory

  • Comfortable spending significant time in the field, including:

    • Visiting customer offices

    • Walking job sites

    • Engaging field crews and supervisors directly

  • Professional, outgoing, and well-regarded by field and operations personnel

  • Ability to operate independently with minimal local sales infrastructure

  • Willingness to travel to Houston periodically to support corporate-level relationships
