Title: Business Development Associate
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid – Energy Cooridor)
Reports to: COO
Our client is a behind-the-meter power developer focused on 50–300 MW deployments for data centers, a highly underserved middle-market niche.
They need commercial horsepower to support:
- Origination
- Project economics
- Market strategy
- Customer engagement
- Gas + battery hybrid development
The Role and Responsibilities:
Commercial & Origination Support
- Support BD efforts with hyperscalers, colo operators, and real estate development partners
- Participate in customer calls and help structure market approach
- Grow into leading solution structuring and customer conversations
Financial & Analytical Work
- Build and maintain project economics models
- Run sensitivities on:
- PPA terms
- Fuel pricing
- Capital structure
- Development timelines
- Support scenario analysis for negotiations
- Assist with project finance modeling (formal training provided)
Strategy & Development Support
- Help develop gas supply strategy
- Support battery + gas hybrid project concepts
- Understand and support the full lifecycle of power project development
- Provide analytical support around generator interconnection and RTO engagement (ERCOT/PJM ideal)
Market & Materials
- Build pitch decks for:
- Conferences
- Partner meetings
- Investor and customer conversations
- Support multiple commercial deck versions (gas supply, equipment partners, sites, etc.)
- Conduct competitive and market research
Qualifications:
- 2–5+ years in:
- Power development
- Energy infrastructure
- Midstream strategy
- Renewables development
- Project finance / investment analytics
- Must be strong in Excel and financial modeling
- Power experience > gas experience
- Nice-to-have exposure:
- PPAs
- RTOs (ERCOT/PJM)
- Energy storage
